Communication Inc. CXO Media decided to redesign their
bimonthly publication Strategic Directions so that it would feel contemporary
and fresh. Strategic Directions is distributed within another publication,
CIO, making it important to brand the look of the covers for immediate
consumer recognition. This was done by showcasing the work of the same artist
to provide continuity and enhance recognition. It was also important to create
a design that was consistent, flexible, and easy to maintain for their in-house
production department. The final design draws energy from bold type and blocks
of color, in place of artwork.
